Caddo Parish now has the largest movie studio west of the Mississippi. G-Unit Studio recently opened to much fanfare in Shreveport, Louisiana.

During the event, which was filled with media and flashing lights, someone yelled, “G-G–G- G-uNITT!!”

“Ladies, gentlemen, Mayor Tom Arceneaux and the wonderful people of Shreveport, it is an honor for me to stand before you here today. As someone who’s always believed in the transformative power of music, film and television I’m really excited to show you the expansion of film and television through G-Unit Studio right here in Shreveport,” said Jackson.

50 Cent Opens G-Unit Studios in Shreveport

The movie studio came to fruition after a major filming subsidy on behalf of the city. As part of the deal, 50 Cent is leasing the city-owned production studio for 30 years for $2,400 a year.

Speaking at the grand opening ceremony and flanked by City of Shreveport officials, 50 Cent said that the movie studio will pattern itself after Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta to an extent. “I am excited about this opportunity,” he said.

“My aim is to embody the spirit of conscious capitalism to focus on creating jobs, stimulating commerce,” he said.
