The recipe for gumbo, like many stews in the Bayou, includes the “Holy Trinity” of ingredients — onions, celery and bell peppers. There are several other ingredients to make gumbo, including sausage, beef, chicken, duck, alligator and shellfish.
We’ll make us some good seafood gumbo.
Seafood Gumbo is a delicious and flavorful Louisiana seafood dish that combines various seafood with a rich roux-based broth. Here’s a basic recipe to make Seafood Gumbo:
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil or canola oil
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 2 celery stalks, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pound fresh or frozen okra, sliced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes (with juice)
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
- 1 bay leaf

Budget carrier Spirit Airlines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the airline announced on Monday.
